Distortion for immersive audio — with full spatial control.
OmniDr1ve started life as a simple bass distortion with a frequency crossover, so you could set a point and drive only the frequencies above it. From there the idea kept opening up. We added an inverse crossover so you can drive only the lows, then a one-button chorus for movement.
Things got more interesting when we started thinking about OmniDr1ve as a spatial processor. Drive is a great way to decorrelate a signal — so we built in a surround mixer that scales all the way up to 9.1.6.
OmniDrive is a stereo input multichannel output decorrelation tool, it does not upmix, it routes driven audio to multichannel locations and allows you to change eq, delay times and phase for the various channel pairs.
A surround mixer built around drive.
The mixer routes discretely to any surround channel. Want to keep the front L/R completely clean? Hit PassThru and the original signal stays untouched up front, while the surrounds carry only the driven signal.
Every surround channel has its own delay of up to 500ms, plus an offset between the L and R of each pair. Use it to open up space and ambience in a decorrelated way — or push it for genuinely creative effects.
The LFE has its own sub-bass synthesis engine, so the sub gets a unique low-end signal that complements the main channels rather than duplicating them — sidestepping the phase cancellation that bass-managed consumer systems can cause when the same lows hit both.
We went further and added per-channel phase rotation from 0° to 180°. Four cascaded all-pass filters spread across the frequency range produce a frequency-dependent phase shift that decorrelates the channel from the rest of the image. Phase as a tool for tension and release in surround? We think there's something there. Used carefully it opens up real creative territory; pushed hard it can destabilize a mix in ways that are hard to predict — so experiment, but check your fold-down.
Everything is automatable.
Every parameter in OmniDr1ve responds to DAW automation — drive, crossover frequency, mix, output, per-channel surround faders, PassThru, and phase rotation. Draw in a drive swell for a build. Automate the S-MIX faders to push distortion outward from center to surrounds as tension rises. OmniDr1ve works as a performance instrument as much as a surround mix tool.
A frequency-aware distortion engine at its core.
Four distinct distortion modes, from warm tube saturation to unpredictable analog fuzz. The built-in crossover means only the frequencies you choose get driven — the rest passes through clean. Up to 8x oversampling, and a dry/wet blend for parallel processing. Works on any source — bass, guitars, synths, vocals, drums — in stereo, or all the way up to 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos.
OmniDr1ve is the surround drive plugin for producers, mixers, and sound designers working in immersive audio, Dolby Atmos, and Apple Spatial.

What Users Are Saying
“This plugin is geared a lot more towards music mixers, it feels more creatively accessible, it feels a little easier.”

Check out Michael's YouTube review!“max1mus audio plugins are amongst the most intuitive ones I’ve ever seen. They are made for artists and producers wanting to achieve professional results in a quick way, without needing a big learning curve that slows down the creation and production workflow. They are plug-and-play, no manual needed. And they are very reasonable priced! Other companies focus more on engineers in post-production, with big budgets, who need more features and the highest possible quality. But those plugins can be hard, both on your system and your budget. As a music creator/producer the max1mus approach gives me the easiest and fastest workflow. Without any compromise on quality!”
