Frequently Asked Questions

Licensing

How does licensing work?

When you purchase or start a trial of a max1mus audio plugin, you receive a license key via email and on your account page. Enter this key in the plugin on first launch to activate it. Each license allows activation on up to 2 machines (e.g. a studio desktop and a laptop).

Do I need to be online to use my plugin?

Only at the moment you activate your license key. After that, there is no requirement for the machine to be online for licensing purposes.

How many computers can I install on?

Each license supports 2 simultaneous machine activations. If you need to move an activation to a new machine, you can deactivate an existing machine from your account page and activate the new one.

What happens if I replace my computer?

Log in to your account, go to your licenses, and deactivate the old machine. You can then activate on your new computer using the same license key.

Trials

How do free trials work?

Create a free account, then start a trial from the product page. You will receive a trial license key that gives you full, unrestricted access to the plugin for the trial period (typically 14 days). No credit card required.

Are there any limitations during the trial?

No. Trial licenses have full functionality — the same features as a paid license. The only difference is the time limit.

What happens when my trial expires?

The plugin will bypass audio (pass through dry signal). You'll see a prompt to purchase the next time you open the plugin window. You can purchase at any time to get a permanent license key.

Purchases & Refunds

Why don't you offer refunds?

Our licensing system is designed to respect your privacy and studio workflow — once activated, your plugin runs entirely offline with no ability for us to remotely disable it. Because of this, we cannot verify whether a plugin is still in use after a refund, which is why we offer generous free trials instead. Please ensure you use our free, fully functional 14-day trial to check compatibility and suitability of our plugins before purchasing.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay via Stripe.

Is my purchase a one-time payment or subscription?

All max1mus audio plugins are a one-time purchase with a perpetual license. No subscriptions, no recurring fees. Future updates within the same major version are included free of charge.

Technical

What plugin formats are supported?

AU (Audio Unit) and VST3 on macOS. Windows support is planned for future releases.

macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later, Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). Intel Macs are not currently supported.

Where can I report a bug or request a feature?
